PROFESSIONAL REGULATION

The statutory regulation and disciplinary procedures of the professions has become an increasingly important feature of modern Ireland and consequently of Irish legal practice. More professions than ever before are subject to statutory regulation and disciplinary procedure which generate an ever expanding body of governing law. The legal profession is no exception and while subject to statutory regulation longer than most, is itself awaiting the passage into law of the Legal Services Regulation Bill, 2011.

William Aylmer has extensive experience advising and representing clients in professional regulatory matters including;

  • Representing solicitors and accountants before the Regulation of Practice Committee of the Law Society.
  • Acting for clients in several High Court judicial review actions, including successfully overturning an army medical board dismissal on medical grounds of a senior NCO of the Defence Forces.

William has also served as a member of the statutory Complaints and Client Relations Committee of the Law Society of Ireland.
